I subscribed to A Seller Tool's cell phone scouting service in June of 2005. I
believe it was shortly after they began. What was attractive originally was the
price - at $5 per month it was half the price of the service I was using. After I
switched I was very happy to find that I could look up more titles at one time (9)
and that the return information was much, much faster for me. (I was using a Nokia
cell phone and TMobile service). I got the lowest 3 listings, can see Buyer
Waiting, the rankings, everything I needed to make a buying decision. I never had
an outage that was because of AST.
I also used their repricing tool and was pleased with it. It was a nice surprise
and came free with the scouting service.
From the very start I have been wowed by AST's support. They are very interested
in suggestions that can help to improve their product, and because of that their
product is always getting better. They are very quick to respond and don't give
up until they have an answer.
I added the Enterprise Service in December 2006. It is just amazing! The
installation was very easy. I asked the AST team a couple of questions on email
and they responded immediately. Using Enterprise Service on my PDA is
instantaneous - the results come back as fast as I can scan in or enter a number!
The data download takes approx 15 minutes and has never had a problem. I am
really having fun with this new service. The returned results have also been
excellent - I don't have any complaints of incorrect data that I've heard from
other services.
I'm so happy with every aspect of A Seller Tool. I can't imagine how they will
improve upon what they have now, but I bet they will. Just today they announced
the addition of DVDs and video games and software to the service, so I see them
helping me to make more money than ever now.
All I can say is Keep Up The Good Work, AST!

When deciding which scouting service to enroll with, customer service was very
important. With just two years limited computer experience, technical set-ups are
usually too complicated for me. I emailed them about their ability to walk me
through the setup process. They answered within an hour with reassurance that any
help I needed would be provided. Great customer service!
Price is not everything, but I found that their price is very competitive. The
phone lookup subscription is extremely economical with the same great customer
service.
I enrolled in Enterprise with a basic Dell Axim pda and sd card. Enterprise has
paid for itself in both the obvious way of some great finds, but also in what I
have not purchased with the instant price check ability. With the better
inventory, my amount of daily sales has increased and my average sale price has
gone up significantly. Downloading the updates is fast. It takes me about 20
minutes several times a week. The product has improved and updates have been
rolled out earlier than promised. They have a free trial and a referral program.
These reasons are why I recommend ASellerTool.

I have been using ASellerTool cell phone service with my Sprint PCS phone for over
a year. I never had a situation when the ASellerTool site was down, which is great.
Also, the service is fairly cheap: only $4.99 per month. Would it cost 10 times
more, I would definitely use it as well. Basically, it pays for itself with a
purchase of one book only. The respond time of ASellerTool server is pretty fast. I
get results on my cellphone within 5 seconds. I had a couple of times problems to
get results, like time outs and network errors, but after checking with Sprint PCS
customer service I found out that it's was a problem with my cell phone coverage
and not with ASellerTool. Usually, turning of my cellphone and turning it on back
solved the problem.
ASellerTool is easy to use and provides all the information necessary to make a
decision to buy a book or not: used and new prices, number of copies listed, sales
rank, title. It also shows Buyer Waiting alert, which is great, but it's a rear
case you will find a book with BW. It happened to me 4 times within 12 months
period.
It would be great if ASellerTool will add search by Library of Congress number.
Some older, pre isbn books can fetch good prices.
ASellerTool Customer Service is great. They usually reply within an hour after I
emailed them. Many thanks to Tom and Stanley.
Recently I became a cutomer of PDA scouting service. Now I use cell phone service
if I want to check results in real time before I make decision to buy a book. My
cellphone subscription now is complementary, and I pay only $29.99 for PDA service.
I wholeheartedly recommend ASellerTool service for everybody who buys books for
resale. It's a very powerful tool and you HAVE to have it if you want to make
profit selling books.
Please don't forget to mention my name at time of subscription. We both will get a
month free.

There are many providers out there, but after my analysis, I went with ASellerTool (AST) and their PDA/Scanner package, which included a PDA, laser scanner, memory card, 3-month subscription, and more. I have to tell you, I am so happy with my decision. I based my decision to go with AST because of their customer service, their quality software, their price, and because a family member of mine is with another provider and I was able to compare the two.
When I ordered my package from AST, I had the complete unit in my hands in 2 days. I was unsure at first how to connect the PDA to my computer to download the updated prices. I emailed AST and Tom called me within an hour. He talked me through the issue and I was up and running in no time. I have subsequently emailed them a couple of times and sure enough, they have always emailed me back very promptly. I had read routinely in the Amazon forums that their customer service was excellent. That has held true.
I have compared my service with the service my family member uses with another competitor and both services are very comparable. He has a couple of features mine does not have and I have a couple he does not have. One thing I really like better about mine is that when you scan a book, it shows the actual sales ranking on Amazon. I recently bought a book with a rank of 23. My family member's service only shows a range of 0-10,000 for that same book. I guess I am kind of a detailed person. I like to know if my book is closer to 0 or 10,000.
AST is constantly upgrading and improving their product. They take their customer’s suggestions to heart and try to provide useful features that really help when we scout those books. I like that.
You may be considering AST because they are $10-$20 cheaper per month for their service compared to the other providers out there. I think that is what initially drew me to their website. I am always watching my bottom line costs, as I am sure most booksellers are. When I subscribed with AST I figured that if I didn't like their service, I already had the hardware package and could easily switch to another provider after my initial subscription had expired. Well, I can tell you it has been nothing but smooth sailing with AST and I do not plan on switching to any other provider. In my humble opinion, with their quality service and reasonable price, they are the #1 provider out there.
If you are considering going with AST and would like to ask me any questions, please feel free to email me at madgrad.books@gmail.com. Thanks!
