Tutorial for downloading latest pricing Database
There are three different methods of downloading. You can choose the one that works best for you.
Note: If you are using Dell X5 PDA package, we recommend you to use method three to download.
Before getting started: Regardless of which method you choose , we highly recommend you to temporarily shut down firewall, Internet security and anti-virus.
Method One: Downloading directly from PDA ProgramOr go to troubleshooting section
Method One: Downloading directly from PDA Program
Step 1: Connect your PDA to PC (Windows Desktop/Laptop). Use the cable to connect to PDA on one end, and to the PC USB on the other end.
If your PC is running Windows XP, you will use ActiveSync to connect to PDA
If your PC is running Windows Vista, you will use "Mobile Device Center" to connect to PDA
Step 2 (Apply to ActiveSync for XP only): Make sure the word "Connected" is on the screen of ActiveSync. See screen below:
Note: If you do NOT already have ActiveSync installed on your PC, please do the following before proceeding to Step 3:
1. Download ActiveSync here
2. Unzip the file - "ActiveSync42.zip" using WinZip
3. Double click the file "ActiveSync42.exe" to install ActiveSync on your PC
Step 3 (Apply to ActiveSync for XP only): After clicking "Connection Settings" from the "File" menu, you should see the following screen. In the dropdown for "This computer is connected to:", make sure "The Internet" is selected.
Step 4: Open ASellerTool program in PDA , click on "menu" on bottom left corner, then tap "Data Download" , see screen below

Step 5: While waiting for download to finish
, on the PDA screen you should see a progress bar updating at the bottom.
Download should take from 20-40 minutes, depending on the speed of your Internet connection
After you get a "Download Finish" message box, your download is completed, and your PDA is ready to go.
Trouble-shooting Method One
Case I: ActiveSync blocked by firewall or Internet security software
Even if you see Connected on ActiveSync screen
, it's still possible for firewall to interrupte data transfer via ActiveSync.
If you have the ActiveSync installation CD
, or you can download from here
, please follow the 3 steps below
1. Uninstall ActiveSync from your PC (Desktop/Laptop)
2. Completely turn off firewall, anti-virus, and Internet security software
3. Reinstall ActiveSync
After that, you can re-try the download steps for Method One.
Method Two: Downloading from PC to PDA
Note: If you have already installed Desktop Downloader before
, and now wants to upgrade to the latest version of Desktop Downloader, please click here to go to upgrade instructions.
If you have already installed the latest version of Desktop Downloader
, please jump to Step 5 below
Step 1: Download and install .NET Framework 1.1 at http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/details.aspx?familyid=262D25E3-F589-4842-8157-034D1E7CF3A3&displaylang=en
NOTE: If your computer already has .NET Framework 1.1 installed, you can skip this step.
Step 2: Download "Desktop PC Data Downloader" at http://asellertool.com/ent/pc_downloader.zip
Step 3: Unzip "pc_downloader.zip"
Step 4: Double click on pc_downloader.exe to install on your desktop PC.
Click here if you encounter problem with this step.
Step 5: Open the "Desktop PC Data Downloader" program from your desktop PC
Goto "Start" menu, then "Program Files" OR "All Programs"
Look for a folder called "ASellerTool", click on the program underneath the folder.
Step 6: Connect your PDA to PC (Windows Desktop/Laptop). Use the cable to connect to PDA on one end, and to the PC USB on the other end.
If your PC is running Windows XP, you will use ActiveSync to connect to PDA

Step 7: Download data
Your desktop computer must be connected to the Internet. Try open a browser and go to http://yahoo.com to see if you can visit its home page.
Follow the steps 7.1, 7.2 and 7.3 in the print-screen below:
Step 7.1: Select the first option - "get account information from PDA automatically........."

Step 7.2: Select the first option - "Download Data to PDA directly"

Step 7.3: Click the "Start" button in the middle

Step 8: Download will take about 20-30 minutes. You MUST wait for the "Download Finshed" message box, before taking the PDA for scouting.
Congratulation!!! All Steps Finished for Method Two
Method Three: Downloading from PC to SD Memory Card via USB SD Card Reader
IMPORTANT: When you unplug and re-insert scanner and SD Card, please take extra care not to damage the socket inside the PDA.
Prerequisite for Method Four:
Make sure your ASellertool program on PDA is of version 3.6.1 or above.
You can check the version number by (1) Opening ASellertool on PDA, (2) Click "menu" on bottom left corner, (3) tap "About"

Step 4: Double click on pc_downloader.exe to install on your desktop PC.

Step 5: Open the "Desktop PC Data Downloader" program from your desktop PC
Goto "Start" menu, then "Program Files" OR "All Programs"
Look for a folder called "ASellerTool", click on the program underneath the folder.
Step 6: USB SD Card Reader Setup
6.1 - Write down license information: user id, password and license key. (This step is only needed for the first time you download)
Go To ASellertool program in PDA, click "menu" on bottom left corner, then tap "License"
, write down the User ID, Password, and License Key, all are case-sensitive
6.2 - Close ASellertool Program on PDA
6.3 - Remove SD Card from PDA
6.4 - Plug SD Card into SD Card Reader
6.5 - Plug SD Card reader into USB of PC
6.6 - Find the new "Removable Drive" created, usually it's E:\ or F:\ or G:\
Step 7: Download data
Your desktop computer must be connected to the Internet. Try open a browser and go to yahoo.com to see if you can visit its home page.
Follow the steps 7.1, 7.2 and 7.3 in the print-screen below:

Step 7.1: Select the SECOND option - "Fill out account information .........."
Fill in the User ID, Password and License Key you wrote down from Step 5.1 above

Step 7.2: Select the SECOND option - "Download Data to SD Memory Card"
In the textbox for "Specify SD Memory Card Location" , fill in the "drive letter" you got from Step 5.6 above, append "\Data" at the end. It's usually E:\Data OR F:\Data OR G:\Data

Step 7.3: Click the "Start" button in the middle

Step 8: Download will take about 10 - 15 minutes. You MUST wait for the "Download Finshed" message box. After that, follow steps below with exact order.
1. Remove SD Card from SD Card reader
2. Plug in SD Card into PDA
3. Open ASellerTool program.
Congratulation!!! All Steps Finished for Method Three
Problem in installing Desktop PC Data Downloader
If you encouter an error message similar to ".NET Framework has not been installed" , please do the following:
Download and install .NET Framework 1.1 at http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/details.aspx?familyid=262D25E3-F589-4842-8157-034D1E7CF3A3&displaylang=en
If the URL above does not work (because it could be moved by Microsoft), please go to
http://www.google.com, and search for "Download .NET Framework 1.1".
